#wedNEWSday – Dorset County Playoffs Under 14 & 16’s

Each week we bring you a good news story from across the South West as part of our wedNEWSday articles.

On 9th September 2018 Teams, Coaches and Umpires from Dorset travelled to Sir David English sports centre in Bournemouth to take part in this year’s County Playoffs to head to Regionals for the 2018/2019 season.

First up were the Under 14’s; each game was very competitive and well played by all teams involved.

Final standings and representing Dorset for U14 regional:

  1. 1) Poole
  2. 2) Wimborne
  3. 3) North Dorset

Next up were the Under 16’s; again, each game was very competitive and well played by all teams involved, and this year saw Dorset choosing between 5 teams to represent Dorset at Regional U16, which we have never had before.

Final standings and representing Dorset for U16 regional:

  1. 1) Poole
  2. 2) North Dorset A
  3. 3) Wimborne

Representing Dorset at the Under 14 regional tournament proved a hit for the teams as Wimborne and Poole made it into Division 1 and were winners of their pools and North Dorset making Division 2. Good Luck for your next fixtures.

We look forward to hearing how the U16 teams do at the seeding tournaments down in Paignton in the next couple of weeks.

Each week we will be updating you on a good news story from the South West as part of our new wedNEWSday articles. If you have a good news story that you would like to share please send your story and a picture to Laura Woodruff (southwest@englandnetball.co.uk)

#wedNEWSday – Congratulations Sue

This week’s WedNEWSday is a very special congratulations to one of our regional staff, Sue Anderson who got married to her partner Adrian in a small ceremony in Bristol in August.

It seems only right that we have chosen to send our congratulations to Sue on the day we are celebrating Back to Netball’s 10th Birthday – as in her role as Bristol’s Netball Development Community Coach, she is the absolute queen of Back to Netball and all the programme stands for inspiring and supported thousands of women to get back on court!!

Congratulations Sue and Adrian – wishing you lots of love and happiness!

#wedNEWSday – Welcome aboard Issy

Each week we bring you a good news story from across the South West as part of our wedNEWSday articles.

However this week is slightly different, we are giving a warm welcome to Issy Farrell who has become the Youth Representative on the South West Regional Management Board, making her the youngest member.

Here is a little bit more about Issy:

She is originally from Gloucestershire, currently studying PE & Sports Studies at the University of Worcester with the aim of becoming a secondary school teacher. She plays for both the university team in Worcester, last season playing within the 3rd squad and currently plays at Hucclecote Netball Club in Division 1. She also coaches the U13 section at Hucclecote with a brilliant bunch of girls keen to learn. Her other sporting love is hockey where she plays for a local team and once played for England!

Issy’s main aim with the role is to get as many young girls as possible enthused by the sport and wanting to participate in it. Within this role she wants to offer a range of opportunities that will both attract and sustain our numbers within the South West to find a love for netball.

Issy has said ‘I’m so excited to begin my time as youth rep because I want to be able to get involved through a hands on approach by tackling some of the issues within the county and being able to make a difference to south west netball’

If you would like to know more about Issy’s role or have any more questions for her, then please do not hesitate to contact her on: youth@netballsouthwest.co.uk
